2013 Offering of Letters

2013 Offering of Letters

Faith UCC is a Bread for the World Covenant Church. On April 28 and May 5, as part of Bread for the World's 2013 Offering of Letters we will prepare handwritten letters to our elected representatives in Washington, advocating protection for funding for programs that help hungry and poor people. Writing letters to Congress is particularly important this year as lawmakers continue to negotiate the federal budget. Letters (and calls and email messages) help give them the political will to protect programs that help hungry and poor people. Those programs are at great risk and any cuts will significantly harm the lives of thousands or millions of people.
This year Bread for the World is an alliance partner for A Place at the Table, a feature-length documentary about the persistence of hunger in America.
Bread for the World's Biblical Reflection for this year concludes: “Even in our rapidly changing world, God’s intention for human wholeness remains. Abundance and provision are in our midst. Yet, while there is enough food in the world for everyone to eat, many of God's people do not have access to the food they need."
