Volunteers and Donations Needed

The last “big” project was laying down 16 bags of mulch in the flower bed to the left of the main entrance of the building. We hope people notice and realize how lovely the beds can be.
  • helping to maintain a regular routine of watering.  This is not easy. The hose is heavy and the connection is not good, which leads to the need for...
  • someone with plumbing knowledge to repair (or replace) the connection to turn the water on and off
  • regular ongoing weeding
  • regular ongoing care of the plants (including fertilizing)
  • leaf clean up in the fall
  • Needed now:
    • a minimum of 16 more bags of mulch purchased at Gale’s Garden Center – Cypress in yellow bag 5/$20 (Dave Vesey has a tax-free certificate)
    • a hose winder – preferably something on wheels
    • a couple of lightweight hoses to extend the length
    • a sprinkler
    • Miracle Gro fertilizer (can usually be found at Marc’s)
    • Round Up weed killer
    • retainer separating the grass from the flower beds (just in the back) and strong backs to install it
  • Needed in the fall and next spring:
    • hardy, prolific perennials (black eyed susan, for instance). Bulbs should be planted in the fall, most perennials in the spring
    • more mulch will be needed in the spring
