Prayer in the Park
This summer Pastor Gene McAfee invited everyone who likes to be outdoors, to study outdoors, to eat lunch outdoors, to pray outdoors, and to walk outdoors to join him for a series of six pilgrimages in the park to read, discuss, pray, and explore God's natural world and our relationship to it. Participants gathered at 10:30 a.m. on six Thursdays at the Kelly Picnic Area of the Euclid Creek Reservation in South Euclid to read the Bible and various writers on creation; pray and meditate for and about creation; have a 2- to 3-mile walk; and enjoy fellowship and a bag lunch. Gene reports: I thought the series was overall successful in incorporating study of the Bible and writers about creation with being in a less-built environment while engaged in that study. The nearness of the created order deepened our awareness of some of the things we pray for when we pray to be good stewards of creation. Our time of fellowship over lunch, as well as the increasingly long walks following lunch, gave us time to reconnect with one another and explore further some of the ideas that surfaced during our study. The walks also introduced the first regular physical activity that is part of the church program since I've been at Faith. Topics included:

Picnic Time
The morning began with our regular Sunday Morning Worship Service, followed by a Congregational Meeting and Picnic in the Social Hall (we did it inside this year, just in case the rains returned). August 15th was a Special Summer Sunday at Faith UCC. |
Jubilation 2010!
![]() Congratulations to the Faith Church Choir on being part of a wonderful musical experience! Our choir, under the direction of Mary Ober, performed in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist downtown on Thursday evening, May 20, as one of the six finalists in the Jubilation 2010 Church Choir Festival. Broadcast live over WCLV 104.9 FM, the concert featured choirs from around northeast Ohio, and everyone who attended -- and Faith was very well represented in the pews -- got to hear wonderful music in a wonderful setting. Thanks to Mary, Joan, the choir, and everyone from Faith for their dedication and support. |

Loaves & Fishes on YouTube!
At the August Loaves and Fishes meal, Interact Cleveland took photos and interviews with members of the Faith UCC team as part of a video presentation of this year's Congregate Meals Program. With Interact Cleveland's permission, we have uploaded the video to YouTube so members and friends can see the team at work, along with other teams from throughout the Cleveland area. |
Picnic
It was a very Special Summer Sunday on August 16th. The morning began with a congregational meeting with refreshments under the front trees. We voted to fix the parking lot at last - Hallelujah! Then there was a joyful, Spirit-filled worship service together with our friends from Emmaus Bible Fellowship Church. The service was followed by our second annual joint church picnic with a total attendance of more than a hundred from Faith and Emmaus! |
