Pastor
 |
The Rev. Dr. Eugene C. McAfee became pastor of Faith Church in 2003, having served St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland and The Memorial Church of Harvard University prior to his coming to northeast Ohio. A native Buckeye, Gene received his education at Indiana University (B.A., 1982, Journalism and Religious Studies), Yale Divinity School (M.Div., 1985), and Harvard Divinity School (Th.D., 1996, Old Testament). An avid reader, walker, and cook, Gene also serves as chair of the Discernment of Call Working Group of the Department of Church and Ministry of the Western Reserve Association, where he helps guide candidates for ministry through the authorization process. He loves teaching the Bible -- especially the book of Jonah -- and his favorite passage of Scripture is Matthew 25:31-46. Gene lives in South Euclid with his three cats, Nick, Phoebe, and Boaz. |
Director of Faith Formation
| Karen Wagner has been active in Faith Formation ministries for sixteen years. She thoroughly enjoys listening to and guiding children, youth, and adults as they explore how God is calling and leading them. Currently she is a "Faith Practices" writer for the United Church of Christ, having written four sets of resources. Karen's ministry has called her to Faith, to the UCC, and in the past she has been active with other denominations. Karen speaks publicly about faith formation, especially as it relates to children, youth, and families. |

Mary Ober has been involved in choral directing for nearly forty years. A life member of American Choral Directors Association, she has a M.Music from Kent State (1998) in choral conducting. Mary is currently a PhD candidate in historical musicology at the University of Pittsburgh with a dissertation topic on issues of French metrics in the solo songs of Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). In addition to her duties at Faith UCC, she is currently employed as a music specialist with Bedford (OH) City Schools, teaching middle school strings and general music. Happy mother of four grown children and five grandchildren, she is very happily married (2005) to Ron Ober, also a father of four and grandfather of one! |
Accompanist

Joan Workman is happy to be a part of the music program at Faith, and also accompanies the Euclid Womens' Ensemble, sings in and occasionally accompanies the Lakeland Civic Chorus. Previously she served as organist at The Master's United Methodist Church of Euclid; Music Director for three dinner show productions in Euclid; and accompanist for the Euclid Civic Chorus. Fun for Joan is hanging out with any or all of her three daughters and nine grandkids, who are scattered around the country in California, Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, and (happily) a few here in Ohio. She also enjoys reading, good movies, good food and friends, and a little traveling. |
